Rumors suggest the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 may require a more powerful charger than its predecessor. While leaks hint at a design similar to the original Switch, a recent report indicates the new console will ship with a 60W power cord, incompatible with the original Switch's charger.

Recent leaks have offered glimpses of the Switch 2's design, including images seemingly confirming a similar aesthetic to the original console and magnetic Joy-Cons. However, journalist Laura Kate Dale, citing a BlueSky source (via VGC), shared an image of the Switch 2's charging dock. This image, along with information suggesting a 60W power supply, raises concerns about compatibility with the original Switch's charger. While the older cable might work, it's likely to be less efficient, making the 60W cable the recommended option.

Charging Cable Compatibility Concerns

This isn't the only rumor swirling around the Switch 2. Other leaks detail developer kits, hinting at potential game titles including a new Mario Kart and Project X Zone from Monolith Soft. The console's graphical capabilities are speculated to be comparable to the PlayStation 4 Pro, although some sources suggest a slightly lower performance level.
