FTCがマイクロソフト・アクティビジョン合併差し止め要求を断念

マイクロソフトは、アクティビジョン・ブリザード買収をめぐる継続的な過程において、米国連邦取引委員会（FTC）に対する法制面での勝利をさらに重ねた。
本日、サンフランシスコの米国第9巡回控訴裁判所は、FTCがマイクロソフトによる『コール オブ デューティ』パブリッシャーの690億ドル買収を阻止しようとした試みを退け、2022年末に初めて発表された取引を確固たるものとした（ロイター通信経由）。3人の判事による合議体のこの判決は、昨年7月にマイクロソフトによる買収を認めた決定に対するFTCの異議申し立てを実質的に終結させた。
マイクロソフトによる3年間に及ぶアクティビジョン・ブリザード買収計画は、多方面からの精査の対象となってきた。複数の米国上院議員は当初、Xboxの親会社がもう一つの大手企業を吸収することによるハイテク産業の集中に対する懸念を表明し、反対の声を上げた。人気フランチャイズがXbox独占となる可能性への懸念が高まる中、マイクロソフトは既存のシリーズが複数プラットフォームで引き続き利用可能であることを繰り返し保証してきた。
