Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, it's easily missed. This guide explains how to locate and activate this beneficial encounter.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter, granting +10% Lightning Resistance, appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Its in-game icon is subtle, often overlooked on the world map. The location within the Spires of Deshar map is randomized with each playthrough; there's no guaranteed path. However, it always appears on this map. Diligent exploration is key. The shrine resembles the image above. Interact with it to receive the buff. Be prepared for combat; activating the shrine brings the surrounding metal automatons to life. This triggers all automatons on the map to become hostile.

If you reach a checkpoint near the exit before finding the Sisters, utilize the checkpoint near the shrine to avoid retracing your steps through the map.

Claiming Your +10% Lightning Resistance

The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied immediately upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's an instant effect.

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Why My Lightning Resistance Isn't Showing Correctly

Many players are confused when their resistance values remain negative despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is due to a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances applied after each Act (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, completing the Sisters in Act 2 nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the net Lightning Resistance will be -30% after activating the shrine (reducing the -40% debuff).

To verify the buffs are active, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates you haven't missed the encounter.
