一則來自Pokémon GO沙烏地阿拉伯官方推特帳號的貼文，意外洩露了火焰鳥、雷鳥和冰鳥將於1月20日至2月3日期間，以極巨化形態出現在極巨團體戰的消息。儘管該貼文隨即被刪除，但消息已迅速傳播開來。
這將是Pokémon GO首次推出極巨化的傳說寶可夢。極巨化寶可夢自2024年9月在Pokémon GO中登場，而這三位關都地區的傳說寶可夢——火焰鳥、雷鳥和冰鳥——一直以來都是玩家們的熱門選擇。它們曾在遊戲早期以團體戰的形式出現，甚至還有異色版本。2023年，伽勒爾地區的鳥類三巨頭也加入了每日精靈香的陣容，儘管出現率相對較低。自2024年10月起，玩家們還能遇到伽勒爾地區傳說寶可夢的異色版本。

極巨化傳說寶可夢的到來，或許能提升極巨團體戰的人氣。 部分玩家此前曾迴避極巨團體戰，認為其難度過高。10月時，Pokémon GO就曾因極巨團體戰的難度，尤其是在難以集齊40人參與戰鬥的情況下，而受到玩家的批評。 這次極巨化的傳說寶可夢團體戰是否也會面臨同樣的問題，還有待觀察。
