The "Digital Revolution of Devarattam" project marks a significant step in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu through digital means. At the heart of this initiative is the Devarattam app, which I have dedicated to the legends of this traditional dance form. The app honors Kalaimamani awardees Mr. M Kumararaman, a retired teacher, and Mr. M Kannan Kumar, as well as Kalaimani awardee Mr. K Nellai Manikandan from Zamin Kodangipatti. Additionally, it recognizes the contributions of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar recipient, further enriching the tapestry of Devarattam's legacy. My guru, Mr. E Rajakamulu, along with other beloved legends of Devarattam, are celebrated through this digital platform.

The primary goal of the Devarattam app is to spread awareness about Devarattam, a vibrant folk dance of Tamil Nadu, and to highlight the achievements of its awardees. Devarattam, historically performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar, consists of 32 basic steps, with an additional 40 alternative steps, allowing for a total of up to 72 steps in its repertoire. Dancers engage in this art form while adorned with Salangai on each leg and holding a kerchief in each hand, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the Deva Thunthumi, a traditional musical instrument. Through the app, users can delve into the intricacies of Devarattam, gaining a deeper appreciation for this ancient dance and its performers.
