The Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro are approved for use by children aged 2 years and older, making them a versatile choice for managing both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

One of the standout features of the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro is the real-time glucose readings provided every five minutes. This frequent monitoring helps you stay on top of your glucose levels and make informed decisions about your diabetes management. The systems also offer personalized trend alerts directly on your smart device, alerting you when your glucose levels are trending too low or too high, enabling proactive management of your condition.

The Alert Schedule feature on the Dexcom G6 allows you to customize and schedule a second set of alerts. This means you can tailor your alert settings to match your daily routine, such as setting different alerts for work hours versus the rest of the day. You can also choose custom alert sounds, including a Vibrate-Only option on your phone for glucose alerts. However, the Urgent Low Alarm cannot be turned off for safety reasons.

The Always Sound setting, which is enabled by default, ensures that you receive critical Dexcom CGM Alerts even if your phone is set to silent, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb mode. This feature allows you to silence other notifications while still receiving important CGM alarms and alerts, such as the Urgent Low Alarm, Low and High Glucose alerts, Urgent Low Soon Alert, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts. A Home screen icon indicates whether your alerts will sound or not. For safety, the Urgent Low Alarm and three other alerts—Transmitter Failed, Sensor Failed, and App Stopped—cannot be silenced.

Additional features of the Dexcom G6 include the ability to share your glucose data with up to ten followers in real time using the Dexcom Follow app. This feature requires an internet connection and allows your followers to monitor your glucose data and trends on their compatible smart devices. The Dexcom G6 also offers Health Connect access, enabling you to share retrospective glucose data with third-party apps, and the Quick Glance feature, which lets you view your glucose data on your smart device's lock screen.

For those using Wear OS devices, the Dexcom G6 integrates seamlessly, allowing you to view glucose alerts and alarms directly from your watch. Please note that some features, such as Alert Schedule, Always Sound, Share, Follow, Health Connect, Quick Glance, and Wear OS Integration, are not available on the Dexcom G6 Pro System.
