Before Starting Your Sensor

Decide which device you'll use before starting your Sensor. You can receive alarms and glucose readings either on your phone via the FreeStyle Libre 2 app or on your FreeStyle Libre 2 Reader, but not both. To use your phone, initiate the Sensor through the app. For the Reader, start the Sensor with the Reader itself.

Keep in mind, the app and Reader do not share data. To get complete information on a device, scan your Sensor every 8 hours with that device. Otherwise, your reports might miss some data. You can consolidate data from all your devices on LibreView.com.

Remember, if you're using the app, you'll also need access to a blood glucose monitoring system as the app does not include one. Finger pricks are necessary if glucose readings and alarms don't match your symptoms or expectations.

Notifications from the FreeStyle Libre 2 system will only alert you when alarms are enabled and the sensor is within 20 feet of the reading device without obstruction.
