"6 Cartoon Network Games Removed from Stores"
Summary
- Warner Bros. Discovery has unexpectedly delisted several Cartoon Network games, sparking significant fan backlash.
- The delisted titles include Steven Universe: Save the Light, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, and others.
- Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest, released in 2014, is the oldest game affected by this move.
In a surprising move, Warner Bros. Discovery has removed at least six games from their Cartoon Network Games and Adult Swim Games labels from digital storefronts like Steam and the Nintendo eShop. These games, including cult classics and fan favorites, are no longer available for purchase, leaving fans unable to legally acquire them.
This action is part of a broader cost-cutting strategy by Warner Bros. Discovery, which has also seen the shelving of nearly completed movies and the removal of original films from streaming platforms. Earlier in March, Warner Bros. Discovery announced plans to delist several Adult Swim indie titles such as Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, Duck Game, and Fist Puncher. While some games were spared due to public outcry, others were delisted without any prior communication from Warner Bros. Discovery.
On December 23, as reported by Wario64 on Twitter, five Cartoon Network games were delisted from various platforms. The affected titles include Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest, Adventure Time: Magic Man's Head Games, OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes, Steven Universe: Save the Light, and Steven Universe: Unleash the Light. Additionally, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, released in 2020, was also removed from sale. Each delisted game on Steam came with a message stating that it "will no longer be available for sale after Dec. 23rd, 2024," signed by either "Cartoon Network Games" or "Adult Swim Games."
List of Delisted Cartoon Network Games:
- Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest
- Adventure Time: Magic Man's Head Games
- OK K.O. Let's Play Heroes
- Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time
- Steven Universe: Save the Light
- Steven Universe: Unleash the Light
While some titles under the Cartoon Network Games label, such as Cartoon Network Journeys VR and Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake, remain available on Steam, the soundtrack for OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes is also still for sale. Neither Cartoon Network Games, Adult Swim Games, nor Warner Bros. Discovery have provided a clear reason for the delisting of these games.
Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest, released in April 2014, is the oldest game affected by this delisting. Other games like Steven Universe: Save the Light and OK K.O. Let's Play Heroes were released in 2018, while Steven Universe: Unleash the Light came out in 2021. This recent action follows a similar mass delisting in March 2024, where many Adult Swim games were saved due to public outcry. Fans are particularly upset about the removal of Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, as it served as the canonical ending to the show's fifth season.
