The event raised over $2.5 million, a figure exceeding the 2024 total by over $100,000. This significant contribution supports the foundation's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and public awareness initiatives.

AGDQ 2025, a prominent annual winter speedrunning marathon, featured a diverse lineup of games, including popular titles like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and many others spanning various genres. The event is one of two major GDQ events held annually, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick marathon in July and smaller, supplementary events throughout the year. A notable example is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief following Hurricane Helene.

The AGDQ 2025 event in Pittsburgh commenced with a speedrun of Pikmin (Switch version) by Ray0ken. A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi run by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing cover versions of the game's music to circumvent copyright restrictions. This innovative approach generated over $24,000 in donations. The marathon concluded with a thrilling four-player randomized race of Super Metroid (SNES).

The Games Done Quick organization's commitment to charitable causes continues with Summer Games Done Quick 2025, scheduled for July 6th in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders. The collective fundraising efforts of GDQ events have contributed over $26 million to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
