Creative director Jonathan Dumont has shed light on the expected playtime for Assassin's Creed Shadows, providing gamers with a clear picture of their time investment. In a revealing interview with journalist Genki, Dumont disclosed that completing the core narrative of Shadows will take players approximately 30 to 40 hours. For those eager to dive into all the optional content, an additional 30 to 40 hours could be spent, culminating in a total playtime of around 80 hours.
Previously, Dumont compared Shadows to earlier titles like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. However, given the varied lengths of these games, this comparison was less informative. Recognizing the challenge of measuring open-world experiences, Dumont clarified that Shadows aligns more closely with the scope of Origins. According to How Long To Beat, Origins requires about 30 hours for the main campaign, with completionists needing up to 80 hours to see everything.

For fans worried about excessively long gameplay, Shadows promises a more balanced experience. Valhalla, for instance, has faced criticism for its 60-hour main story and a total playtime that can reach 150 hours when including all content.
