Astro Bot has received an exciting update featuring five challenging new levels, each introducing unique special bots to unlock. Notably, two of these bots come from a franchise previously absent from the game, despite its popularity among PlayStation fans.

The newcomers are none other than Cloud and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII. Cloud awaits rescue in the "High Inflation" level, while Sephiroth makes his appearance after conquering all five challenges.

The inclusion of Final Fantasy, especially VII, has been highly requested by fans. Despite launching with 173 bots representing PlayStation’s history, the original absence of Final Fantasy VII—a franchise closely tied to PlayStation—was unexpected. Developers previously cited publisher agreements as the reason, implying Square Enix had initially declined. However, the studio now appears open to collaboration.

Cloud and Sephiroth aren't the only new arrivals. Square Enix contributed even more cameos, including 2B from Nier: Automata and Serge from Chrono Cross, alongside Atsu from Ghost of Yōtei, whose inclusion was already confirmed.

Since launch, Astro Bot has received multiple challenge stage updates, reflecting Team Asobi’s continued support after the game’s stellar reception.
