Atuel, the Award-Winning Documentary Game, Is Coming Soon to Android

Matajuegos' surrealist documentary game, Atuel, is launching on PC and Android later this year! Pre-registration is now open on Steam, with a Google Play listing expected soon.

Originally released on itch.io in September 2022, Atuel quickly gained recognition for its unique blend of documentary storytelling, experimental gameplay, and breathtaking visuals. The game's innovative approach earned it the IndieCade 2022 ‘Innovation in Experience Design Award,’ along with numerous other accolades. It's also been showcased at prestigious events like the Marché du Film in Cannes and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Exploring the Atuel River Valley

Atuel immerses players in the stunning yet climate-change-affected Atuel River Valley in Argentina. This isn't just a game; it's an experience. Players shapeshift into various animals and elements within the ecosystem, becoming integral to the landscape. One moment you're soaring through the air, the next you're flowing as the river itself.

The game seamlessly integrates real-life interviews with historians, biologists, geologists, and local residents, providing insightful perspectives on the region's history, current state, and future under the shadow of climate change. Matajuegos collaborated with The 12.01 Project, an international documentary team, to bring these stories to life.

The game's visuals, inspired by the Cuyo desert, create an almost otherworldly atmosphere.

While Android pre-registration is pending, you can visit the Steam page or official website for more information. The mobile version will feature localization in seven new languages and full controller support.
