In a surprising announcement, Bandai Namco has revealed plans to shut down *PAC-MAN Mobile*, a title that has been part of mobile gaming for over a decade. Ironically, this year marks the 45th anniversary of the legendary icon's debut in the gaming world. Launched as *PAC-MAN + Tournaments*, this version brought more than just the nostalgic charm of the classic arcade game—it introduced innovative features like Story Mode, Adventure Mode, and Tournament Mode.

Story Mode offered players a fresh take with original mazes, while Adventure Mode featured limited-time events that rewarded exclusive skins. Tournament Mode, on the other hand, challenged players with weekly maze puzzles across three difficulty levels. The game also allowed customization with various skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more. However, as of April 1st, 2025, in-app purchases have been discontinued, and the official shutdown date is set for May 30th, 2025.

Despite the disappointment from fans, who hoped for an offline version to keep the game alive, Bandai Namco cited ongoing technical issues and bugs as the primary reasons behind the decision. The game, once celebrated for its leaderboard challenges and high-score pursuits, has faced growing problems over the past few years.
