The Battle Cats, a mobile tower defense game featuring an army of bizarre and endearing feline warriors, is celebrating its 12th anniversary! To mark this milestone, developer Ponos has launched a captivating Sengoku-era ad campaign, blending historical artistry with the game's signature quirky humor.
This new campaign, titled "The Way of the Cat," transports players to the Sengoku period, a time of intense strategic warfare. The commercials cleverly juxtapose the historical setting with the game's signature elements, including those iconic, strangely alluring cat food cans.
Developed in collaboration with R/GA, the cinematic ads are surprisingly engaging. As Ponos' COO and Managing Director Seiichiro Sano states, “As we celebrate 12 years of The Battle Cats, we’re excited to challenge perceptions and showcase the game’s strategic depth. This collaboration with R/GA honours our heritage while inviting new players to experience the thrill of tactical gameplay in a fresh way.”
