Blizzard is incapable of running their own game: Diablo 3 event cannot be extended
Diablo III's annual "Fall of Tristram" event, slated to conclude on February 1st, has sparked player requests for an extension. However, community manager pezradar has confirmed this isn't currently feasible, citing hard-coded event limitations preventing server-side adjustments.
This announcement follows the postponement of Diablo Immortal's Season 34, disrupting some players' weekend plans. Pezradar apologized for the late notice (received only 24 hours prior), explaining the delay is necessary to implement and test new code for smoother seasonal transitions. This code addresses issues with the automatic scheduler that prematurely ended Season 33 in early January. The extra time ensures seamless player progress transfers. Pezradar acknowledged the need for improved early-stage communication with players.
Separately, Wolcen Studio revealed Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat RPG blending extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test begins January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a fusion of extraction shooter tension and RPG combat dynamics, drawing comparisons to Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. The game casts players as Death's messengers, tasked with restoring order to a ravaged world. The developers eagerly anticipate player feedback.
