Within the *Vampire: The Masquerade* universe, the core principle known as the Masquerade dictates that vampires must conceal their true nature from humans. This principle is intricately woven into the gameplay of *Bloodlines 2* through the Masquerade meter, which monitors actions that could expose the vampire world.

Should players breach the Masquerade, they will encounter varying levels of consequences, visually represented by three distinct indicators on an eye icon at the top of the screen:

• Green: This signals a minor violation. At this stage, simply hiding will suffice to avoid further issues.
• Yellow: This indicates that the player has committed multiple infractions, fed on humans, or used aggressive powers. At this point, players must deal with witnesses or take measures to avoid attracting police attention.
• Red: A full breach of the Masquerade, triggering a police chase. The best course of action here is to flee and find a hiding spot, as the Camarilla, the governing vampire body, will intervene once the meter reaches its maximum, as demonstrated in the gameplay clip.

To mitigate their "infamy" and restore their standing, players can choose to manipulate witnesses into forgetting what they've seen or, in more drastic scenarios, eliminate them. If the police become involved, the safest strategy is to hide and wait until the situation cools down.
