After two weekends, Comscore data estimates a global gross of $289.4 million ($141.2 million domestic, $148.2 million international), with a worldwide second-weekend gross of $63.5 million. Despite being the biggest 2025 theatrical release so far, the substantial drop surprised industry analysts. Paul Dergarabedian of Comscore told Variety, “This is the new normal for Marvel movies…a second weekend drop of 68% reflects less audience enthusiasm than you’d expect from Marvel.” Deadline projects a final global box office around $450 million.

The film's launch coincided with generally poor reviews; IGN's review gave it a 5/10, criticizing its lack of originality and impact despite strong performances from its cast (Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Carl Lumbly). Marvel Studios and Disney will need Captain America: Brave New World to maintain strong box office performance to reverse a recent negative trend for MCU films (excluding last year's successful Deadpool & Wolverine), and build momentum for upcoming releases like Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
