Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Sales Milestone

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw remake, RePOP, has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold. This success comes despite initial launch challenges, including technical issues and criticism regarding censorship. The strong sales figures clearly demonstrate significant player demand for the game.

Developed by Dragami Games (the original was by Grasshopper Manufacture), RePOP delivers a revitalized experience. The remaster boasts enhanced visuals and quality-of-life improvements to the classic action-hack-and-slash gameplay. Players once again take on the role of Juliet Starling, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling hordes of zombies.

This sales milestone, announced via a Dragami Games tweet, encompasses sales across all platforms: current and last-gen consoles, as well as PC. The achievement is notable, especially considering the original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sold over one million copies. The original game's success was largely attributed to the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (Grasshopper Manufacture) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), whose contributions significantly shaped the game's narrative.

While there's currently no news regarding potential DLC or a sequel for RePOP, the positive sales figures bode well for future remasters of similar niche titles. This success follows the recent release of another Grasshopper Manufacture title, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, showcasing a growing interest in bringing classic games to modern audiences.
