Chrono Trigger is celebrating its 30th anniversary with numerous releases throughout the next year
Chrono Trigger Celebrates 30 Years with Upcoming Projects and a Special Concert
Square Enix has announced the 30th anniversary of the beloved JRPG, Chrono Trigger. To mark this milestone, various projects are planned for release throughout the year. While details remain scarce, the announcement hints at possibilities beyond a simple game re-release.
This news has ignited excitement among fans, many of whom have long hoped for a modern remake or console release. Despite its iconic status, Chrono Trigger has yet to receive a full-fledged remake since its original 1999 PlayStation port. While available on PC and mobile, a definitive modern version remains a sought-after goal. Square Enix's history of revisiting classic titles offers hope, though for now, the only confirmed anniversary event is a special concert.
This concert, showcasing Chrono Trigger's legendary soundtrack, will stream live on YouTube on March 14th at 7:00 p.m. PT, running into the early hours of the next morning.

Chrono Trigger, for the uninitiated, is a time-traveling RPG developed by a legendary team: Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Dragon Quest mastermind Yuji Horii, and renowned Dragon Ball artist Akira Toriyama. Originally released in 1995 for the Super Famicom and SNES, the game follows Crono and his companions as they journey through history, from prehistoric times to a dystopian future. Players recruit allies, alter timelines, and face one of gaming's most iconic final bosses.
This 30th anniversary is a significant event. While a remake or console port remains unconfirmed, Square Enix's announcement leaves the possibility open. Stay tuned to Chrono Trigger's X page for updates on upcoming projects. Check out this list of the best JRPGs to play on iOS right now!
