12月6日，PC Gamer举办的“PC游戏展：最受期待”活动揭晓了最终结果：《文明7》力压群雄，夺得桂冠！本次活动评选出了2025年最令人期待的25款游戏大作。
这场近三小时的直播盛宴，向观众展示了2025年最值得期待的游戏阵容。游戏排名基于“议会”（The Council）的投票结果，该评审团由70多位知名开发者、内容创作者和PC Gamer编辑组成。除了游戏排名，活动还带来了《让我们建造一个地下城》(Let’s Build a Dungeon)和《末日车手》(Drivers of the Apocalypse)等游戏的全新预告片和内容。
亚军由《毁灭战士：黑暗时代》(Doom: The Dark Ages)获得，季军则被《怪物猎人：荒野》(Monster Hunter Wilds)摘得。备受期待的独立游戏《杀戮尖塔2》(Slay the Spire 2)位列第四。榜单上还有《合金装备：Delta潜龙谍影》(Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater)、《恐怖：重制版》(The Thing: Remastered)和《王国之泪2》(Kingdom Come: Deliverance II)等。令人意外的是，《空洞骑士：丝之歌》(Hollow Knight: Silksong)并未出现在榜单上，其预告片也未在活动中播放。

《文明7》全新机制助你完成战役
12月6日，在PC Gamer的采访中，《文明7》创意总监Ed Beach解释了全新战役机制“时代”（Ages），旨在帮助玩家完成战役故事。根据Firaxis Games对《文明6》的数据分析，大多数玩家未能完成战役，这成为《文明7》开发团队亟需解决的重要问题。Beach解释道：“我们的数据显示，很多玩家在游玩《文明》系列游戏时，往往无法坚持到最后。他们根本无法完成游戏。因此，我们希望尽一切努力——无论是减少微操、还是重构游戏——来直接解决这个问题。”
《文明7》引入了一个名为“时代”的新功能。一个单次游戏或战役被划分为三个篇章：古代时代、探索时代和现代时代。在一个时代结束后，玩家可以切换到另一个文明，这反映了现实世界中帝国兴衰更迭的历史。
然而，下一个文明的选择并非随机。它必须与你之前的文明在历史上或地理位置上有所关联。例如，罗马帝国过渡到其现代时代的对应物——法兰西帝国，诺曼帝国则充当两者之间的桥梁。
即使你切换到另一个文明，你的领导者也将保持不变。《文明7》官网表示：“领导者贯穿所有时代，确保你始终了解谁是你的帝国成员，谁是你的对手。”
对于前一个文明留下的建筑，游戏引入了“叠加建造”（overbuild）功能，玩家可以在过渡到一个时代后，在现有建筑之上建造新的建筑。然而，奇迹和一些建筑将在整个游戏中保持不变。
凭借这些新功能，玩家可以在一次游戏中体验不同的文明，提供处理文化、军事、外交和经济事务的新方法，同时保留对特定领导者的依恋。
