Clash Royale's research reveals a decline in Christmas card popularity: Six in ten adults report receiving fewer cards, and a staggering 79% express indifference. In fact, over 40% hope this trend persists into 2024.
Capitalizing on this "festive fatigue," Clash Royale has launched a humorous London pop-up at Boxpark Shoreditch. The event allows participants to shred unwanted Christmas cards in exchange for in-game rewards, providing a guilt-free alternative to discarding them.
The anti-Christmas sentiment extends beyond cards. Clash Royale's research indicates a broader festive rebellion: one in five people cited Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" as their most unwanted holiday song, and over 20% admitted to publicly complaining about Christmas music or opting for beef instead of turkey.
The anti-Christmas spirit even reaches Clash Royale's content creators. YouTubers, such as Orange Juice Gaming, are receiving intentionally awful gifts (think socks, oven mitts, and nail clippers), though these packages cleverly include Clash Royale-themed wrapping paper containing in-game rewards for fans.
