"Conquer Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds: Capture Guide"

Want to master the art of defeating or capturing Chatacabra, the long-tongued menace from *Monster Hunter Wilds*? As one of the first monsters you'll encounter, it's essential to hone your skills against this frog-like beast to make your hunts more efficient and enjoyable.
How to Beat Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds
Chatacabra's primary weakness lies in its susceptibility to Ice and Thunder elements. It has no notable resistances, but it's immune to Sonic Bombs. Given its close-range combat style, primarily using its tongue, the key to defeating Chatacabra is to stay near its sides. This position minimizes your exposure to its frontal attacks, which include its tongue lash and a telegraphed slam using its front limbs. Watch out for its rare sweeping attack when it raises its head to the sky; this move can catch you off guard if you're positioned behind it.
While any weapon can be effective against Chatacabra due to its relative ease as a target, smaller weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade might be less optimal due to the monster's size. Opting for weapons that exploit its elemental weaknesses will expedite the battle, allowing you to claim victory and perhaps even fashion a new frog skin hat from your spoils.
How to Capture Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing Chatacabra follows the standard procedure for capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Since Chatacabra can't fly, it's a bit more straightforward than dealing with airborne creatures. To capture it, you'll need either a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap, along with two Tranq Bombs. It's wise to carry one of each trap and a full set of eight Tranq Bombs to account for any mishaps during the hunt.
Engage Chatacabra in combat until its health is sufficiently depleted, indicated by a small skull icon appearing next to its marker on the mini-map. This usually happens when it starts limping away to a new area for the last time. Follow it to its chosen retreat spot, set up your trap, and lure it into the trap. Once Chatacabra is ensnared, use two Tranq Bombs to sedate it, completing the capture process successfully.
