Crunchyroll's PictoQuest: A Retro Puzzle RPG Now Available

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll has released a new puzzle RPG, PictoQuest, exclusively for Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscribers on Android. This charming game boasts a retro aesthetic and blends picross-style puzzles with RPG elements.

The Quest Begins in Pictoria:

Players find themselves in Pictoria, a land where legendary paintings have mysteriously vanished. The goal? Recover the missing artwork! This involves solving picross-style puzzles (grids with numbered edges providing clues to the hidden image), battling enemies, and ultimately confronting the villainous wizard, Moonface.

Gameplay Mechanics:

PictoQuest cleverly integrates RPG elements into its core picross gameplay. Health points act as a timer, adding a strategic element to puzzle-solving. Players can also acquire healing potions and power-ups from the in-game shop using earned gold. Completing puzzles unlocks access to a world map, where villagers offer special missions.
