Cyberpunk 2077’s Idris Elba Hopes For Cyberpunk Live-Action With Keanu Reeves
Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, envisions a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film alongside Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Elba expressed his excitement about the prospect, stating that a live-action adaptation featuring both himself as Solomon Reed and Reeves as Johnny Silverhand would be "Whoa." This isn't their first collaboration; both actors are also featured in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Elba's enthusiasm fuels speculation already ignited by Variety's October 2023 report of a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project in development by CD Projekt Red (CDPR) and Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce a year later, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Witcher live-action series suggests a Cyberpunk adaptation is a strong possibility.
Beyond the live-action film, the Cyberpunk franchise continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched its first chapter. Penned by Bartosz Sztybor, the manga will delve into the backstory of Rebecca and Pilar, before their involvement with Maine's crew. The manga is currently available in several languages, with English to follow. Furthermore, a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Blu-ray release is planned for 2025, and a new animated series is in the works.
