Following the release of blockbuster titles like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, not all of the seasoned experts at CD Projekt RED remained with the company. Some chose to embark on a new journey with The Blood of Dawnwalker. This eagerly anticipated game has been recently unveiled by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran from CD Projekt RED, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz shared his reasons for leaving CDPR and starting Rebel Wolves. He expressed a desire to explore new creative avenues with his friends, stating, "I wanted to do something different with my friends, so I started Rebel Wolves. Naturally, we have a strong interest in role-playing games and their history. [But] I believe that these RPG rules can be developed and expanded." Tomaszkiewicz and his team have been brainstorming innovative ideas, which they felt would be challenging to implement within the constraints of a large corporation. He noted, "Since it would be difficult to persuade any large corporation to change and do something novel, you know [to work with brand-new] intellectual property, we came to the realization that if we wanted to do them, we would need to open our own studio."

Tomaszkiewicz highlighted the advantages of working in a smaller studio, emphasizing the ease of communication and the ability to maintain a clear vision. He believes that "a small team, in my opinion, is capable of more because there is communication among members and discussing the vision is simpler. Feeling the 'creative fire' and creating something unique is simpler." This approach allows Rebel Wolves to take risks and work on novel solutions, which might be more complicated in larger studios.
