Deadpool Ends Marvel Trilogy in Bloody Finale

Cullen Bunn and Dalibor Talajić's Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time concludes their bloody trilogy, expanding the carnage beyond a single universe to encompass the entire Marvel multiverse. This latest installment sees Deadpool facing off against a wider array of foes, including twisted versions of classic heroes and villains, from Cap-Wolves to Worldbreaker Hulks.
IGN recently spoke with Bunn, who revealed that while he initially pitched a multiverse-spanning Deadpool story, the timing wasn't right until now. The challenge of escalating the conflict from the previous installments—which saw Deadpool decimate the X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four—was met by expanding the scope to the multiverse, allowing for a wider range of creative exploration.
Bunn emphasizes the unique approach to this installment, stating that they aimed to create something distinct from previous entries. He spent considerable time researching the most compelling and powerful variants of Marvel heroes and villains, resulting in what he considers the most epic Deadpool story yet. While he remains tight-lipped about specific matchups, he hints at the inclusion of obscure characters unseen in over 30 years.
Talajić's artistic contributions are also highlighted. While Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again featured stylistic shifts reflecting Deadpool's altered mental state, this final chapter sees Talajić's skill shine through in his interpretations of diverse realities and characters, promising a visually striking experience.
Unlike the previous two books, which presented distinct scenarios for Deadpool's murderous rampage, this installment offers a fresh start while subtly connecting to its predecessors. Observant readers may notice details linking it to earlier events, but it stands completely alone, requiring no prior knowledge of the series. Bunn teases that this Deadpool is even more sympathetic than in the previous installments, prompting the reader to question whether they should be rooting for his success.
Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1 is set for release on April 2, 2025.
