June's trailer offered a glimpse into the game's post-apocalyptic world, featuring intense gun battles against zombies and Mad Max-style vehicular combat. The narrative will unfold years after the initial apocalypse, focusing on human settlements struggling for survival against the undead hordes.

State of Decay 3 is slated for release on PC and Xbox Series consoles. The previous installment in the series launched in 2018.
