NetEase Games, the developers behind Marvel Rivals, have responded swiftly to the community's concerns just days after a widespread Support strike was initiated by fans. Season 2 of Marvel Rivals has been largely successful, introducing new characters, maps, and modes, and promising faster seasons with an ever-growing roster of playable heroes. However, recent balance changes have shifted the power dynamics, leaving the Strategist class, which serves as the game's Support pool, at a disadvantage compared to Vanguards and Duelists.

The community has been vocal about the diminished role of Support since the start of Season 2, with players reporting not only tougher matches but also increased toxicity from teammates blaming them for losses. The situation escalated last week when hundreds of players took to social media to announce a boycott of the healer role until NetEase addressed the issues.

In response to the strike and the ongoing challenges faced by the Strategist class, NetEase has outlined a plan to address the imbalance. In a Dev Talk post on their website, they detailed a two-pronged approach to ease the pressure on Support players. This includes buffing the Strategist class and making adjustments to the Competitive mode to make it more rewarding.

NetEase plans to elevate the "threat levels" of Strategists in an upcoming patch, potentially enhancing heroes like Invisible Woman or Jeff the Land Shark. Concurrently, they intend to nerf the survivability of certain Vanguards like Captain America and Groot, and decrease the damage range of Spider-Man's Amazing Combo ability. Specific details on the affected characters will be disclosed soon.

"Since this is a mid-season balance adjustment, we aim to be cautious, keeping changes minimal to enhance the experience of certain heroes without drastically altering the overall meta," NetEase stated. "As we move into S2.5, with Ultron's arrival and new Team-Up Ability adjustments, we'll consider broader, more comprehensive balance changes."

Competitive mode in Marvel Rivals has seen shifts in performance stats since Season 2 began, with Duelists enjoying an advantage while Vanguards and Strategists have been slightly disadvantaged. To rectify this, NetEase will adjust performance rating calculations to ensure fairness across all heroes.
