Introducing Agadon the Hunter, the new adversary set to take the place of the Marauder in the upcoming DOOM: The Dark Ages. Unlike a mere upgrade, Agadon represents a wholly unique challenge, blending traits from various bosses. He's adept at dodging, evading, and even deflecting the Doom Slayer's projectiles. With a repertoire of combo attacks, players will need to master the use of a sawtooth shield, drawing inspiration from the acclaimed Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which has evidently influenced the game's developers. Facing Agadon is designed to be the ultimate test, a culmination of all the skills players have honed throughout their journey—a true final exam.

The developers have chosen to maintain the essence of a formidable boss akin to the Marauder, confident that players are eager for an intensified challenge. The previous discontent stemmed not from the difficulty itself, but from how it was introduced and explained. Elements crucial for defeating the Marauder were introduced abruptly, without prior use in the campaign, causing a jarring shift in gameplay that frustrated some players. To mitigate this, the developers are focusing on a more gradual introduction of mechanics and enhanced player preparation.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is slated for release on May 15, 2025, and will be available on current-generation consoles, including PS5 and Xbox Series, as well as on PC via Steam.
