Dr Disrespect, the popular streamer known for his online persona, has publicly acknowledged inappropriate messaging with an underage individual, confirming the reason behind his 2020 Twitch ban. This admission follows a Twitter claim by a former Twitch employee alleging "sexting a minor."

While initially denying wrongdoing and citing a settled legal dispute with Twitch, Dr Disrespect subsequently released a statement on June 25th, clarifying that the inappropriate conversations occurred in 2017 via Twitch Whispers, a now-defunct private messaging feature. He maintained there were no malicious intentions and no in-person meeting. His statement, viewed millions of times, faced criticism for initially omitting the mention of the minor's age before being corrected.

The controversy also impacted Dr Disrespect's involvement with Midnight Society, the game development studio he co-founded. While Midnight Society announced a termination of their relationship, citing a need to uphold their standards, Dr Disrespect described the decision as a mutual one. He offered apologies to his team, community, and family.

Despite the fallout, Dr Disrespect intends to return to streaming after an extended break, refuting accusations of predatory behavior.
