A Decade in the Making
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's development has been a lengthy process, facing multiple delays spanning almost a decade. Initially starting in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project, then codenamed "Joplin," was sidetracked due to BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Further complicating matters, the original design clashed with the company's shift toward live-service games, leading to a complete development halt.
In 2018, The Veilguard was resurrected under the codename "Morrison." After years of further development, it was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
