The announcement came as a shock to Dragon Age fans when the RPG's Steam page was updated to include the free Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer. This move was unexpected, especially since EA had previously indicated that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would not receive significant support moving forward. After the game's fifth patch in January promised that future updates would primarily address game-breaking bugs, this new content feels like a breath of fresh air, even if modest.

Surprisingly, the Rook’s Weapons Appearances bundle is exclusively available to current owners of the game and new PC purchasers until April 8, 2025. While details about the bundle's contents are sparse, players have discovered that it includes a set of Watchful skins, accessible in their Rook's in-game room. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of the game.

"Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever," one Steam review noted, "they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!"

"It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content," a Redditor commented. "I'll live with that."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to positive reviews in October but, according to EA, did not capture a wide enough audience. Key team members announced their departure from BioWare in late January, with many staff members either laid off or reassigned to other projects within the company. At the time, EA informed IGN that the studio was redirecting its full focus to the next Mass Effect installment.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard became part of the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles lineup, just four months after its release. No further plans for the game's future have been disclosed.
