Oni Press has been making waves in the comic book world with its successful revival of the legendary EC Comics brand. Building on that momentum, the publisher is set to introduce a fresh chapter this summer with the launch of *Blood Type*, a gripping vampire-themed series spun off from the pages of the anthology title *Epitaphs From the Abyss*.

*Blood Type* marks the first installment in a planned lineup of EC Comics spinoff titles launching in Summer 2025. The series is written by Corinna Bechko (*Cruel Universe*, *Green Lantern: Earth One*) and brought to life visually by acclaimed artist Andrea Sorrentino (*Gideon Falls*, *Old Man Logan*), with color work by Dave Stewart (*Hellboy*). Issue #1 will feature variant covers illustrated by Sorrentino, Miguel Mercado (*Buffy the Vampire Slayer*), Albert Monteys (*Universe!*), and Naomi Franq (*Black Hammer: Barbalien*).

Here’s an official synopsis from Oni Press:

“WHEN YOU'RE A VAMPIRE, EVERYBODY SUCKS . . . SOONER OR LATER! Meet Ada, an immortal vampire whose misdeeds have landed her at the gates of an idyllic Caribbean resort—an island paradise filled with wealthy tourists and superstitious locals, perfect for a bloodthirsty vamp looking to lay low. But as Ada explores her new hunting ground, she finds herself caught in a deadly nocturnal game of cat and mouse when an older, more cunning predator emerges—one driven not by hunger, but by greed and power. Who will survive when a new kind of BLOOD TYPE declares war on a ruthless vampire with nothing left to lose? And what will be left of them?”

“Horror has always been my natural home—something Andrea and I share,” said Bechko in Oni's official press release. “With *Blood Type*, we’ve crafted a dark and thrilling story centered around a character I instantly connected with the moment she hit the page. Does she love me back? Absolutely not—and that’s part of her charm. She’s a vampire, yes, but don’t expect any sparkles or romance here. She’s here to take over a tropical paradise, and she’s ready for it.”

Sorrentino added, “I think horror is where I feel most comfortable, even though I've explored many genres like superheroes and sci-fi throughout my career. Horror gives me the chance to tap into readers’ deepest fears through powerful visuals, which is both challenging and rewarding. So when I was invited to contribute to EC Comics—arguably one of the greatest names in horror comics—with two short stories and then this exciting limited series, I felt honored. Collaborating once again with Corinna Bechko and longtime colorist partner Dave Stewart makes this project even more special. It’s going to be a blast, and I can’t wait for fans to see what we’ve created!”

*Blood Type* #1 is scheduled for release on June 18, 2025. Additionally, Oni Press will reprint the original *Blood Type* short story in the upcoming Free Comic Book Day 2025 special titled *EC Presents: Blood Type #0*.
