Elden Ring: Nightreign will eliminate the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively leave or read messages.

"Given the roughly forty-minute session length," Ishizaki stated, "there isn't enough time to send or read messages, so we removed the feature."

This change is noteworthy, considering the significant role messaging has played in enhancing player interaction and enjoyment in past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

Nightreign stands as a separate adventure, distinct from the Elden Ring storyline, to preserve the original game's integrity. It promises a fresh experience with unique challenges and encounters, while retaining the atmospheric richness and intricate design of the Elden Ring world.
