During an intense match of Elden Ring Nightreign, stopping to analyze stats and numbers is rarely an option. In fact, Nightreign’s character progression is more straightforward than Elden Ring’s freeform point allocation. So, what do the stats actually mean, and which ones should you prioritize?

YouTuber Zullie the Witch recently explored the underlying mechanics to answer this. Although Nightreign simplifies leveling up, the stat changes at each level can be tracked and visualized, as Zullie demonstrates in their video.

One interesting discovery is that the jump from level 1 to level 2 gives a much larger stat boost than any other level-up, making that first Site of Grace especially impactful. Meanwhile, levels 13 through 15 provide smaller gains for most characters, effectively creating a soft cap around level 12. You'll still improve, but the increases aren’t as significant as in earlier stages.

They also noted that different stats scale differently. For instance, Duchess has a B rating in Dexterity and an A in Intelligence, yet her actual stat growth across levels ends up being fairly balanced. Strangely, no character gains Arcane points through leveling.

For those wondering, the character with the highest total potential stats, if built in Elden Ring’s system, would be Recluse. According to Zullie, this is because Recluse gains equal amounts of Intelligence and Faith—both stats cap at 51 by level 15.

This research offers valuable build advice: Zullie found that each point of Vigor consistently increases HP by 20, regardless of level. Also, Relics that boost attack stats appear more effective early on but become less important compared to other damage bonuses as you progress.
