Crystal Dynamics, the renowned California-based game developer behind the iconic Legacy of Kain series, has announced two thrilling new projects set in the gothic world of Nosgoth. These announcements come hot on the heels of the December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, further expanding the rich universe fans have come to love.

Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Join Forces for Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia

In a recent press release, Crystal Dynamics unveiled their collaboration with UK-based creative design studio Lost In Cult and Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker. "We're incredibly excited to be diving back into the world of Nosgoth with these two passion projects," expressed Ryan Brown of Lost In Cult.

The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia that delves deep into the gothic world of Nosgoth. Written by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, this comprehensive guide will cover the locations, factions, and inhabitants of Nosgoth, along with a detailed timeline of the epic rivalry between Kain and Raziel. The encyclopedia will not only provide rich lore but also offer behind-the-scenes insights into the development of the Legacy of Kain series. Readers can look forward to original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers, providing a thorough exploration of the creation of all five Legacy of Kain titles.

An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Set to Launch

The second project, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, is an atmospheric tabletop role-playing game set during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against the vampiric scourge in Nosgoth. Utilizing the critically acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, this TTRPG promises a mechanics-light, high-stakes gameplay experience. Players will take on the roles of warrior priests from the Sarafan Order, navigating through six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, and an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors. The game will allow players to explore Nosgoth’s unique landscape, engage in vampire hunts, uncover hidden histories, and venture into the spectral realm.
