One such discovery, a particularly grim ending, has resurfaced during testing of the game's eighth major patch. This ending allows the player character to forcefully remove and destroy the illithid parasite, surviving unscathed. A subsequent choice then presents itself: depart with companions, or leave them behind.

The community speculates that this previously hidden ending will be fully integrated with the release of patch eight.
