What to Expect from Vampire Hunters in Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2
The Chinese Room's recent development update for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 sheds new light on the vampire hunters, a formidable faction known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB). Operating on a shadow budget without official government backing, the IAB's agents pursue vampires, or "Hollow Ones," under the guise of conducting "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts."
Leading the bureau in Seattle is Agent Baker, a disciplined pragmatist whose sole mission is to eradicate vampires. Known as "The Hen" among her loyalists due to her unwavering authority, she meticulously investigates unusual events and delves into historical data to uncover the connections to the secretive vampire society. Her leadership and strategic approach make her a formidable adversary.
The hunters are a well-coordinated force, with robust security measures both outside and inside their base. Confronting them single-handedly is a daunting task; they operate in teams, use spotlights for surveillance, and maintain constant communication via portable radios. In combat, they wield thermic batons that can bypass defensive tactics and deploy phosphorous grenades to flush enemies out of hiding. Their sniper crossbows are equipped with explosive bolts, which can cause catastrophic damage if not quickly extracted.
Despite their prowess, the hunters have vulnerabilities. Physically, they are less robust than ghouls and vampires, making them susceptible to specific countermeasures. Players with the Fire skill can intercept grenades or bolts and hurl them back at the hunters. Additionally, members of the Ventru clan can use their powers to possess an enemy, turning them against their own team.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to launch in the first half of 2025, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This eagerly anticipated game promises to deliver a thrilling experience with its deep narrative and strategic gameplay.
