Dune: Awakening PvP Exploit Discovered During Open Beta

Dune: Awakening recently concluded its open beta weekend, during which fans unearthed a significant exploit capable of keeping enemies stunned indefinitely. This article delves into the details of this PvP-disrupting bug and outlines Funcom's strategy to resolve it before the game's launch.

Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit

Dune: Awakening's open beta weekend provided players with access to the first 20-25 hours of gameplay and various features. During the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, participants uncovered an exploit allowing them to stun opponents indefinitely in PvP.

The "stunlock exploit" occurs when a player repeatedly uses quick knife attacks on an enemy with zero stamina. This leaves the target unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, effectively trapping them in a continuous stagger state.

This issue gained widespread attention when popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud showcased it during their livestreams of the game.

Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch

Funcom developers, including Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley, observed the stunlock exploit during the Global LAN Party livestream. They swiftly committed to addressing this bug before the game's official release.

Gagné reassured fans, stating, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the open beta weekend now concluded, the developers have received valuable feedback essential for optimizing the game ahead of its upcoming launch.

Dune: Awakening is slated for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S planned for a later, yet-to-be-announced date. Stay informed about the latest developments by checking out our article below!
