Fans Vote on Yakuza Merch: From Cult Clothes to Traffic Cones
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the beloved Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is inviting fans to join the celebration by voting on what official merchandise they'd like to see produced. With an array of over 100 items to choose from, the top two fan-favorites will hit the market within the next two years. Although the voting competition is only listed in Japanese, fans can cast their votes directly on the official website.
The merchandise options range from the conventional to the downright bizarre, reflecting the series' famously eccentric nature. Standard items include a 20th anniversary celebration hoodie and a Yakuza-themed pencil case. On the other end of the spectrum, you'll find iconic and quirky items such as the cult outfit from The Order of Munan Chohept Onast worn by Munan Suzuki in Yakuza 0, the massive traffic cone used by Majima to ambush Kiryu in Yakuza Kiwami, and the flamboyant "Puffy Gold Pants."
Other notable items on the list include the sake Majima sips in a shack in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the gold watch sported by fan-favorite Akiyama, the fountain pen Kiryu uses to write to Dojima in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the tambourine Kashiwagi plays during karaoke in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prisoner uniform from Yakuza 4, among many other unique pieces.

As part of the 20th anniversary festivities, fans can look forward to the release of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on February 21, 2025. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio previously celebrated the series' 10th anniversary with the much-loved prequel, Yakuza 0, and while no similar project has been announced for later this year, the studio's track record suggests they might have something up their sleeve.
Known for its rapid development cycles, RGG Studio has churned out an impressive lineup in the last five years, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, along with two Super Monkey Ball games and an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5, totaling nine games.
