Fantasma: A New AR Multiplayer GPS Adventure Game

Pocket Gamer recently discovered Dynabytes' Fantasma at Gamescom Latam, a compelling augmented reality (AR) multiplayer GPS adventure game. The game's recent update adds Japanese, Korean, Malay, and Portuguese language support, with German, Italian, and Spanish planned for release in the coming months.

Fantasma challenges players to hunt and battle mischievous creatures using portable electromagnetic fields as bait. Combat takes place in augmented reality, requiring players to maneuver their phones to keep the Fantasma in view while tapping the screen to shoot. Defeated Fantasma are then captured in special bottles.

The creatures appear based on the player's real-world location, encouraging exploration. Players can deploy sensors to expand their detection radius and attract Fantasma from greater distances. A social element is included, allowing players to team up for a collaborative experience.
