"Fantastic Four Trailer Debuts, Hints at Galactus in MCU"

Apr 06,25(2 months ago)

Marvel Studios has unveiled the much-anticipated debut trailer for *The Fantastic Four: First Steps*, giving fans an exciting first glimpse into what promises to be one of the most significant superhero films of 2025. The trailer showcases the iconic team—Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and The Thing—alongside the formidable supervillain Galactus. Opening with a scene at the Baxter Building during a dinner, the trailer immerses viewers in the film's unique 1960s retro-futuristic setting and hints at an epic confrontation in New York.

We are treated to scenes of Ben Grimm both before and after his transformation into The Thing, joined by the team's Humanoid Experimental Robot, B-Type Integrated Electronics, known as H.E.R.B.I.E. Both characters are seen engaging in a light-hearted cooking moment, adding a touch of humor to the narrative. Additionally, the trailer features Sue Storm showcasing her powers as the Invisible Woman and Johnny Storm blazing through the skies as the Human Torch. Notably, Reed Richards, while present, is not shown using his stretching abilities.

Fans also catch a glimpse of John Malkovich, rumored to portray Ivan Kragoff, aka the Red Ghost, adding another layer of intrigue to the storyline. The trailer was premiered at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, where stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach interacted with enthusiastic fans.

Set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* also stars Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, with Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles rounding out the cast. The film is directed by Matt Shakman and produced by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.

The official synopsis reads:

Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach)—as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.

Speculation is rife among fans that Robert Downey, Jr. might return to the MCU as the iconic villain Doctor Doom, either in *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* or teased for future appearances. Kevin Feige has confirmed that the Fantastic Four will play a role in both *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Avengers: Secret Wars*, further fueling excitement for the franchise's future.
