Fitness Boxing and More Hit SwitchArcade
Farewell, dear readers, and welcome to the final regular SwitchArcade Round-Up for TouchArcade. This marks the end of a multi-year journey, and while I'll share a few final reviews next week, this is my last regular column. We're going out with a bang, featuring reviews from Mikhail and Shaun, new release summaries, and the usual sales updates. Let's enjoy this one last time!
Reviews & Mini-Views
Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU ($49.99)
Following the success of Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star, Imagineer's latest fitness title pairs the Fitness Boxing formula with Hatsune Miku. This collaboration cleverly blends boxing and rhythm game mechanics for daily workouts, mini-games, and more. Miku even gets her own dedicated song mode! Note: This is a Joy-Con-only game.
The game includes difficulty options, free training, warm-ups, progress tracking, and customizable reminders. Unlockable cosmetics add extra incentive. While the music is fantastic, the main instructor's voice felt slightly out of sync and distracting (I ended up lowering the volume).
Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU is a solid fitness game, arguably better than Fist of the North Star, but best used as a supplement to other routines rather than a standalone program. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Magical Delicacy ($24.99)
Magical Delicacy from sKaule and Whitethorn Games blends Metroidvania exploration with cooking and crafting. While the exploration is surprisingly well-executed, some inventory and UI issues hold it back. The charming pixel art and music are highlights.
The game boasts excellent visuals, a delightful soundtrack, and customizable UI settings. Performance is generally smooth on Switch, with minor frame pacing hiccups. The handheld mode is particularly well-suited to the game's style.
Despite its potential, Magical Delicacy feels slightly unfinished due to inventory and backtracking issues. However, it's still a good game, and future updates could elevate it to essential status. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)
A polished sequel to the original Aero The Acro-Bat, this release features improved presentation compared to typical Ratalaika emulations. It includes extras like box and manual scans, achievements, and a sprite sheet gallery. The Super NES version is included (I wish the Genesis version was also present).
While it lacks some of the original's charm by smoothing out rough edges, it's a solid 16-bit platformer. Ratalaika's enhanced emulation wrapper makes this a strong release for fans.
SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5
Metro Quester | Osaka ($19.99)
More of an expansion than a sequel, Metro Quester | Osaka takes the satisfying turn-based dungeon crawling of the original to Osaka. It features a new dungeon, characters, and enemies, requiring careful planning and strategic party building.
The core mechanics remain largely unchanged, so those familiar with the original will feel right at home. New players might prefer starting here. It's a patient player's game, but rewarding for those willing to invest the time.
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
