Epic Games' recent Fortnite update, including a significant quest UI overhaul, has sparked considerable player discontent. While Chapter 6 Season 1 has been generally well-received, featuring a new map, enhanced movement mechanics, and new game modes like Ballistic, Fortnite OG, and LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life, the quest UI redesign is proving controversial.

The January 14th update introduced a new system presenting quests in collapsible blocks and submenus, a departure from the previous list format. Although some players appreciate the cleaner aesthetic, many find the added layers of submenus cumbersome and time-consuming, particularly during matches where quick access to quests is crucial. This has been highlighted by players attempting the new Godzilla quests.

The new structure, while potentially beneficial for managing quests across different game modes (previously requiring mode switching), is deemed problematic in-game. The extra time needed to navigate the menus to locate a specific quest is considered a significant drawback, potentially leading to player elimination.

Despite this negative feedback regarding the quest UI, Epic Games' simultaneous addition of Fortnite Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings has been positively received, expanding cosmetic customization options. The overall player sentiment remains mixed, with appreciation for some aspects of the update tempered by strong criticism of the quest UI redesign.
