The game promises a completely new Purpose Path, long-awaited mod support, and more, all while preserving the essence of the original. In a detailed Steam post on the same day, the developers shared their vision for this ambitious project.

11 bit Studios is transitioning from their proprietary Liquid Engine, used for the first game, to the Unreal Engine. Having developed Frostpunk 2 with Unreal Engine 5, they recognized the potential to enhance the original game significantly. "Our goal is to expand upon it with improved visuals, higher resolution, and all the other possibilities Unreal has to offer," they explained.
