"Back to the Future Co-Creator Rejects Fourth Film: 'Fk You'"

Bob Gale, the co-creator of the iconic science fiction franchise "Back to the Future," has a strong message for fans yearning for the series' return: "F**k you." In a candid interview with Yahoo, the writer and producer of all three films, alongside his co-creator Robert Zemeckis, firmly stated there are no plans for a canonical continuation of the beloved series.

Gale's frustration was evident when he shared his thoughts backstage at the Saturn Awards. "People always say, 'When are you going to do Back to the Future 4?' And we say, 'F**k you,'" he remarked, emphasizing the creators' stance against furthering the franchise through new films. This blunt response comes amidst a Hollywood trend of reboots and sequels, many of which have been met with criticism, such as "The Matrix Resurrections" and "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny."

The original "Back to the Future" movie, released in 1985, follows high school student Marty McFly, who is accidentally transported back in time by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown. The film became a cultural phenomenon and one of the most celebrated sci-fi movies of all time. However, its sequels, released in 1989 and 1990, did not receive the same level of acclaim.

Despite the lack of new films, the "Back to the Future" franchise continues to thrive in other forms. Its legacy and influence have endured over three decades, with a successful Broadway musical adaptation and plans for a stage production for Royal Caribbean Cruises. Gale also revealed he is collaborating with Michael J. Fox, the actor who portrayed Marty McFly, on a book about Fox's experiences with the series.
