Original screenwriter Bob Gale has made it clear: the "Back to the Future" franchise will never get sequels, prequels, or spin-offs despite persistent fan requests.

Recent discussions about potential revivals surfaced after "Cobra Kai" creators mentioned interest in a TV adaptation. However, Gale firmly shut down these possibilities, emphasizing the trilogy's completeness.

Gale, who co-wrote the beloved Robert Zemeckis-directed trilogy, told People magazine: "Why does this keep coming up? Repeating the idea won't make it happen."

He mimicked frequent interview questions: "'When's Back to the Future 4 coming?' Never. 'A prequel?' Never. 'A spin-off?' Never. The films stand perfectly as they are. As Zemeckis says, they're 'perfect enough.'"

While Hollywood could theoretically revive the franchise, Gale noted that executive producer Steven Spielberg, like the creative team, opposes further installments.

"Unless some corporate giant threatens our families," Gale joked, "but Spielberg respects our stance. He protected 'E.T.' from sequels and supports our decision with Back to the Future."

This aligns with Gale's previous blunt rejections. In February 2023, he responded to sequel requests with: "When people ask about Back to the Future 4, we say 'F**k you.'"
