F-Zero: Climax and GP Legend Join the Switch Online Roster

Nintendo's announcement brings two iconic titles to the service. F-Zero: GP Legend, a global release from 2004, joins the Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax, finally making its way to a wider audience.

The F-Zero series, a cornerstone of Nintendo's racing legacy since its 1990 debut, is renowned for its cutting-edge graphics and intense gameplay. Its influence on the racing genre is undeniable, inspiring titles like SEGA's Daytona USA. The series' signature blend of breakneck speed, challenging tracks, and competitive racing has captivated players for decades. Fans will recognize Captain Falcon, the series' protagonist, who also features prominently in Super Smash Bros.

F-Zero Climax, released in 2004 in Japan, has remained a regional exclusive until now, marking a significant addition to the Switch Online library. Its inclusion, alongside F-Zero: GP Legend, provides a comprehensive look at the GBA era of the franchise. The long hiatus of the F-Zero series, according to designer Takaya Imamura, was partly due to the overwhelming success of Mario Kart.
