Sony and Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting new update for God of War Ragnarök set to launch next week. This free update, arriving on March 20, celebrates the 20th anniversary of the franchise and brings a suite of in-game cosmetic items themed in a striking black-and-gold design, drawing inspiration from one of the series' most iconic outfits.

As detailed in a recent PlayStation.Blog post, the Dark Odyssey collection will be available to all God of War Ragnarök players on both PlayStation 5 and PC. Players can expect to see Kratos, Atreus, and Freya decked out in stylish new looks that not only enhance their appearances but also pay homage to the series' rich history.

The highlight of the update is undoubtedly the Dark Odyssey armor set and appearance for Kratos, reminiscent of a legendary skin from God of War 2 that was exclusive to players who conquered the game on God Mode. This coveted set, comprising the Dark Odyssey Breastplate, Bracers, and Belt, can be claimed from any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly within the roguelike Valhalla mode post-update.

In addition to Kratos' new look, Atreus and Freya will receive their own Dark Odyssey Vestment and Witch Frock, respectively. The update also extends the black-and-gold theme to an array of weapons and shields, including the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, Draupnir Spear, and various shields like the Guardian Shield, Dauntless Shield, Stone Wall Shield, Shatter Star Shield, Onslaught Shield, and Spartan Aspis Shield. Players will appreciate the new customization options, allowing them to alter the appearance of Kratos' weapons without impacting their abilities.
