James Bond audition tapes from 2005 have surfaced online, showcasing Henry Cavill's take on the iconic 007 before he was ultimately outshined by Daniel Craig for the role. These intriguing snippets were shared on the Ron South YouTube channel, operated by an enthusiastic filmmaker with a modest following of 1,890 subscribers. Alongside Cavill's auditions, the channel also featured tapes from actors Sam Worthington, Rupert Friend, and Anthony Starr.

Among these, it's Henry Cavill's performance that has captured the most interest over the years. Many fans and industry insiders, including Casino Royale director Martin Campbell, believed Cavill would have been an excellent James Bond. Campbell himself described Cavill's audition as "tremendous" and reportedly favored him for the role. Despite this support, the decision ultimately went to Daniel Craig, favored by other key decision-makers.

While Cavill missed out on playing Bond, he did get to explore the world of espionage in the film Argylle. In this movie, he starred alongside a talented ensemble including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine O'Hara. Unfortunately, despite the strong cast, Argylle did not fare well with critics, receiving a disappointing 4/10 from IGN.
